A market has been held in the Market Hall since 1879.
In forming All Together Ellesmere Community Interest Company, our first priority was to secure the future of the market hall and weekly market for the people of Ellesmere.
With all the cuts to public services this was under threat, so ATE took over the management from Shropshire Council in 2013.
Our mission now is to maximise the potential of the market hall for the people of Ellesmere and its wider surrounds.
As a small rural town we need to find ways of bringing more money into our local economy and we believe that the market hall has the potential to do exactly that.
All local businesses can benefit from a more vibrant market, but we also firmly believe that the market can offer bespoke opportunities to people who might otherwise find barriers to entering into mainstream employment market.
The market also offers great opportunities for local voluntary or community groups to diversity into a more sustainable means of funding their work than reliance on grant income.
